Description
We carried out steel constructions for the Tsakona Arch Bridge, which connects the prefectures of Arcadia and Messinia. As one of the largest arched bridges in the world and the second-largest in Greece after the Rio-Antirio Bridge, it was built on an active landslide using a steel arch carrier with a suspended deck combined with a pre-tensioned concrete carrier on the Tripoli side. The bridge has a total length of 390m, with a maximum free span of 300m. Its deck width measures 2040m in the pre-stressed section and 2280m in the arched area, accommodating four traffic lanes. The arched structure, a significant prototype for Greece, consists of two parabolic arches connected by wind bracings.
